Keean Tang is an Australia Math Competition ‘High Distinction’ awardee

Ateneo de Manila Senior High School mathletes Keean Tang (12-Sullivan), Deanne Algenio (12-Beyzym), Vanessa Julio (12-Walpole), and Mikha Velez (12-Xavier) were among the 245 math wizards who won awards for the Philippines in this year’s Australian Mathematics Competition (AMC), which was held online on August 5, 2021.
Leading the ASHS awardees is Keean, who was one of only 13 Filipinos to receive AMC’s High Distinction award. Meanwhile, Deanne and Vanessa were among the 76 Filipinos to receive the Distinction award, as Mikha was one of 156 Filipinos to receive the Credit award.
Keean, Deanne, Vanessa and Mikha competed in the AMC’s senior division.

The AMC is an engaging 30-problem contest that demonstrates the importance and relevance of mathematics in students’ everyday lives, with problems that are designed by Australia’s leading educators and academics each year. It is open to students in years 3 to 12 from all over the globe and attracts more than 250,000 participants annually.
