In a podcast feature interview by PumaPodcast with Philippine Daily Inquirer, Ateneo School of Government Dean Ronald Mendoza discussed political patronage and how it works. This is in light of the 1993 murders of UPLB students Eileen Sarmenta and Allan Gomez, and the loyalty of the residents of Calauan, Laguna to their former mayor Antonio Sanchez and his family. The podcast explained what it is that drives Filipinos when we elect our officials, and why we keep making excuses for them when they do wrong.
