[AGS] Protection and Gender-Fair Treatment of the Girl Child Week
11 Mar 2025
According to the Philippine Commission on Women (PCM), National Women’s Month is an important occasion that recognizes the significant contributions of women in nation-building. Held every March, it serves as a platform to honor their achievements across various sectors while emphasizing the continuous need to advocate for gender equality and women’s empowerment. Thus, following Proclamation No. 759, s. of 1996, every fourth week of March is declared as Protection and Gender-Fair Treatment of the Girl Child Week. This underscores the necessity to afford every girl under 18 equal opportunities and sufficient protection, preparing her for a role in community development.
In celebration of the 2024 International Day of the Girl Child, the United Nations stated that girls are not only courageous in the face of crisis, but hopeful for the future. Every day, they take action to realize a vision of a world where all girls are protected, respected, and empowered. However, girls cannot realize this vision alone. They need allies who listen to and respond to their needs.
Let us help every girl reach her dream and fulfill her potential.
