As the Spring Film Festival (SFF) Celebrates its nineteenth year, guests can once again look forward to another set of carefully curated Chinese films. Aside from watching these films, the 19th SFF promises dragon and lion dances calligraphy workshops, and several stunning performances that should not be missed!

As with previous years, the 19th Spring Film Festival will be held at the Shangri-La Plaza Mall. This event is organized by the Ateneo Ricardo Leong Center for Chinese Studies together with Ateneo Celadon — the premier Chinese-Filipino organization of Ateneo de Manila University, and the Red Carpet Cinema Shangri-La Plaza Mall.

The Gala Night, which will be held on the 31st of January, will feature a variety of stunning performances. Aside from the above-mentioned dragon and lion dances, guests can look forward to singers and instrumentalists playing music in tune to the mood of the lunar new year. To cap the night, guests will have an exclusive screening of the SFF’s main film:

“One More Chance” is a comedy drama directed by Anthony Pun, and features renowned Hong Kong actor Chow Yun-fat (周潤發) who plays the role of Fai, a compulsive gambler who searches to communicate and connect with his autistic son.

Aside from One More Chance, this year’s Spring Film Festival will include three other films. Namely:

“Where is the Dragon?” is an animated children’s movie that centers on a ten-year old girl named Jen who must work with the legendary zodiac animals to find the dragon, restore order to the world, and save humanity.

“Somewhere Winter” is a teen romance film, based on the book of author Ra Xueman of a similar title, follows the love story of An Ran, a student in Beijing Normal University, and Qi Xiao, a Taiwanese photographer.

“Find Your Voice” is a drama film about a group of troubled students who are forced into joining a trial singing program whose mentor is a world-renowned conductor, played by renowned Hong Kong actor Andy Lau (劉德華).
