23rd Jaime V Ongpin Annual Memorial Lecture on Public Service in Business and Government "Philhealth’s Cash Sweep: a Glimpse into Larger Problems"
The 23rd Jaime V. Ongpin Annual Memorial Lecture on Public Service in Business and Government will be delivered by Ms. Zy-za Nadine Suzara, Independent Public Budget Analyst and Good Governance Advocate, a graduate of AB Development Studies in 2025 from Ateneo de Manila University. Ms. Suzara’s lecture, Philhealth’s Cash Sweep: a Glimpse into Larger Problems will be held at the Veritas, 4F Ateneo Professional Schools, Rockwell, Makati City, and live streamed via YouTube on 14 November 2024, Thursday, at 9:30 AM.
The exchange of views will focus on the cash sweep of unused Government-Owned-or-Controlled Corporation (GOCC) funds to finance the unprogrammed appropriations which has been explicitly framed by the Marcos Administration as fiscal prudence, according to her article Philhealth's Cash Sweep, Business World, 5 August 2024.
After the lecture, there will be an open forum discussion with the following panel of reactors: Dr Cielo Magno, Associate Professor from the UP School of Economics, Dr JC Punongbayan, Assistant Professor from the UP School of Economics, and Dr Kenneth Hartigan-Go, Senior Research Fellow from the Ateneo School of Government.
The JVO Annual Memorial Lecture is a program of the Jaime V Ongpin Center for Business and Government (JVO Fund) and the Ateneo School of Government. The JVO Fund was established to help raise awareness of the Filipino people about pressing national development issues, in order to empower them to actively engage in nation-building.
