Development of a Fiscal-Centric DSGE Model in Aid of Policy Evaluation
The paper Development of a Fiscal-Centric DSGE Model in Aid of Policy Evaluation presents an estimable dynamic stochastic general equilibrium (DSGE) model designed to analyze fiscal policy in the Philippines. Using Bayesian methods and macroeconomic data from 2002 to 2021, the paper explores the effects of unanticipated shocks on the economy and evaluates fiscal multipliers under various scenarios. The model provides insights into fiscal dynamics during the past three administrations and highlights how fiscal and monetary policies interact to stabilize the economy.
The key speaker for this discussion is Dr. Lawrence Dacuycuy, a Full Professor at De La Salle University and former Chair of the Social Science Division of the National Research Council of the Philippines. Dr. Dacuycuy holds a PhD in Economics from Kyoto University and has extensive research expertise in econometrics, social mobility, and macroeconomic modeling. He has received several awards for his research, including the NAST Outstanding Young Scientist Award and the NAST Outstanding Scientific Paper Award.
