Mga Kwento ng Paano at Bakit (How/Why My Ateneo Education Got Me Where I am Today)
The John Gokongwei School of Management and the Ateneo School of Government are proud to co-host this public lecture by Maria Anna 'MeAn' Ignacio on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 entitled "Mga Kwento ng Paano at Bakit (How my Ateneo education got me to where I am today)". MeAn Ignacio was recently awarded the Ozanam Award in the 2023 Traditional University Awards of Ateneo de Manila. The Traditional University Awards of Ateneo de Manila recognize the life and works of men and women in our society who exemplify the values of the University.
Throughout her career, MeAn Ignacio has served thousands of communities, especially the disadvantaged, marginalized, and vulnerable. She led the Foundation for Development Alternatives, a non-government organization that worked with the urban poor towards organizing and capability-building, land tenure security, socialized housing, and access to social credit.
In 2002, she co-founded the Kasagana-Ka Development Center, Inc.(KDCI) a development-focused institution that assists urban poor women and their families and communities through microfinance: https://kcoop.org.ph/. Kabuhayan sa Ganap na Kasarinlan Credit and Savings Cooperative, also created by KDCI, developed subsidized feeding programs to help their members during the pandemic.
In all her roles throughout her decades of experience, MeAn’s commitment, passion, and strong desire to change the lives of others shine through. She truly exemplifies the meaning of being a person-for-others.
