FS Webinar 5

We cordially invite you to the fifth and this year's final installment of the "Policy and Governance of Sustainable Food Systems" webinar series, titled: “Food Lost and Food Waste: What can be done?"

The UN estimates about 1.3 billion tons of food produced in the world annually “gets lost or wasted," while over 700 million people continue to face hunger. Reducing food waste can improve food availability and help solve hunger while saving money, particularly in poor countries and likewise reduce greenhouse gas emissions from unconsumed food and slow environmental degradation through land conversion and pollution.

In the Philippines, according to the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Filipinos waste approximately 1.72 billion kilograms of food every day, commonly rice, vegetables, and meat. This webinar aims to show that everyone from farmers and producers to customers and shop-owners can help to end food loss and food waste and contribute to ensuring food is consumed and maximized by producers and consumers.
