Alay Lakad Laban sa Kaliwa Dam

Three hundred Dumagat-Remontado indigenous peoples (IPs) with farmer members of Pambansang Kilusan ng mga Samahang Magsasaka (PAKISAMA), fisherfolk, and environmentalist groups are participating in the 9-day Alay-Lakad Laban sa Kaliwa Dam protest march from February 15 to February 23, 2023. The IPs are marching to call on the government to halt the construction of the Kaliwa Dam in the provinces of Quezon and Rizal which encompasses the Sierra Madre Mountain Range.

One of their eighteen stops will be at Ateneo de Manila University on February 22, 2023, Wednesday, before they proceed to Malacanang the next day. 

Organized by the Sanggunian ng mga Mag-aaral ng mga Paaralang Loyola ng Ateneo de Manila and the Development Society of Ateneo (DevSoc), there will be a welcome program and press briefing with the delegation upon their arrival on February 22 at Gate 2.5, Katipunan Ave., at 5:00-6:30 pm.

Members of the university community who stand in solidarity with the Dumagat-Remontado IPs are welcome to join in the program and show their support to the cause and to the protection of our environment.
