The webinar will feature Fr. Randy Jasper C. Odchigue and Fr. Reynaldo D. Raluto, Ph.D. Fr. Odchigue will talk about the social and environmental issues in the Caraga region. His presentation will explore how the local church of Butuan and its university engaged with the socio-political, economic, and environmental issues in the locality. Moreover, Fr. Raluto will discuss the Christian contribution – both positive and negative – to the present ecological realities of Mindanao. His presentation will revisit the crucial option of the Church to creatively appropriate the fresh and emerging ecological insights offered by the Catholic social teachings.

The development of the Mindanao Reader was led by the School of Social Sciences, Ateneo de Manila University with funding support from CHED and additional support from The Asia Foundation (TAF). The book has 34 chapters with 44 authors mostly coming from Mindanao covering broad topics from the history, social, economic, political, and cultural features of the island and its people. Edited by Jose Jowel Canuday and Joselito Sescon.
