Abstract 

Adolescent pregnancy is a worldwide issue that has greatly challenged the international community. Although the Philippines shows a decrease in live births among adolescents 15 – 19 years old, the cohort of 10 – 14 year olds is revealing an alarming increase.  (“2019 Annual Report Philippines Responsible Parenthood and Reproductive Health Act of 2012”, 2020). This indicates that a focus on the younger batches of pregnant adolescents is essential for understanding their contexts as early adolescent mothers. In this study, the pregnancy experiences of prospective early adolescent mothers, or those girls aged 10 to under 15 years old who will become mothers, will be examined using the Socio-Ecological Model of McLeroy et al (1988). The researcher seeks to understand the intersectionality of the early adolescent mother’s social, cultural and economic spaces  and how it may reflect her perceptions, beliefs and knowledge in engaging in sexual activities. Through the use of ethnography and photovoice, the researcher will analyze and provide the context of early child births in the Philippines. This may help concerned  groups including the community itself, organizations and government agencies  take effective and realistic steps  to address the issue.
