Vice President for Higher Education
SUBJECT:
Publication Awards for Scholarly Works in view of CMO 15, series of 2019
Hope you are settled in place after our bout of challenging weather conditions.
I'd like to cycle back to an earlier memo.
As stated in the Blueboard announcement dated 2 September 2024 (Subject: Amendments to the Policies and Guidelines of the University Scholarly Publication Awards), scholarly works that are published as part of a degree requirement in compliance with the Commission on Higher Education’s Memorandum Order (CMO) no. 15, series of 2019, are no longer within the scope of the University Scholarly Publication Awards. However, all scholarly works involving students that are not intended to comply with CMO 15, s2019, are very much within the scope of the publication awards.
In order to enable graduate students and their advisers and colleagues in labs and research groups to plan strategically on how to optimize the publications that ensue from their research work, the exclusion from the publication awards of works done in view of CMO 15, s2019, will not be enforced in the 2024 publication year. This exclusion will take effect in 2025.
