The Higher Education community welcomes Ms Ma. Theresa B Villanueva as the Officer-in-Charge of the Office of the University Librarian (Rizal Library) from 1 June to 31 July 2024. For context, as I indicated in my HE Memo#Y2.23, 25 March 2024, Dr Vernon Totanes, current University Librarian, will take up a new post in the Quezon City Public Library beginning 1 June 2024.

Ms Villanueva is, presently, the Assistant Director for Administration in the Rizal Library. She has served the Rizal Library since 1986, and has been designated OIC Director many times, including once for a period of 6 months, when the Director was on leave.

As we begin a new school year in June, Ms Villanueva will attend to the gradual implementation of integrating processes that will benefit the three Rizal Library locations in Loyola, Rockwell, and Ortigas, as well as the University Archives. She will also do the initial on-boarding orientation for the new University Librarian.

After the Search Committee for the University Librarian has submitted its report, we shall announce the new University Librarian and other pertinent recommendations.
