The Ateneo de Manila Community in Higher Education

FROM:

[Sgd.] Maria Luz C. Vilches, PhD
Vice President for Higher Education

SUBJECT:

2025 Graduate Programs PAASCU Accreditation Visit

Here's another occasion for us to be one community in our desire for continuing quality assurance!

In March 2025, SY 2024-2025, the Graduate Programs of the School of Humanities, School of Social Sciences, School of Science and Engineering, Gokongwei Brothers School of Education and Learning Design, and the School of Management will undergo a PAASCU Accreditation. As an institution that is driven by the Ignatian principle of Magis, we value self-regulation that aims for continuous self-improvement. Our commitment to providing our Ateneans with the highest quality Ignatian education is the driving force behind our efforts at self-evaluation and our desire to be reviewed by external peers.

There are three phases to this accreditation exercise:

  1. the pre-visit or institutional self-survey;
  2. the formal visit that takes place in March 2025; and c) the wrap-up phase that includes a review of the new set of PAASCU recommendations that will be part of the next 5-year cycle of strategy and planning by the schools.

The following PAASCU Management Team is in charge of the self-survey exercise following the 8 Areas and Standards set by the PAASCU.

The Chairs and Co-Chairs have been enjoined to form their teams at the soonest possible time so that preparations may go at full speed. Members of the Higher Education Community are welcome to join any of the Area Committees, if interested. Just please send me an email at vp.highereducation@ateneo.edu so that we may include your name on the Area list.

We aim to submit the self-survey report to PAASCU by December 2024.

Preparing for PAASCU is not new to us. Our experience of accreditation has always been about working together as a community, producing a well-crafted document that narrates our 5-year quality cycle (2019-2020 to 2024-2025) in the various areas of school organization. We commend everybody’s efforts at setting into action our common aspiration for the kind of learning institution that our students deserve.

I always trust in your cooperation and full support!
