Mr Cesar Rafael M Concio Jr, 1931-2023
We extend our condolences to the family of Mr Cesar Rafael M Concio Jr (HS’47, AB’51), who passed away on 4 October 2023
Cesar became a member of the University’s Board of Trustees in 1971 and became Chair of the Board for nine years, starting in 1972. During his term, the Board approved the University’s plan for coeducation. In June 1973, Ateneo de Manila welcomed its first female undergraduate students, a watershed moment in the University’s history — shaping and changing the educational landscape for Ateneans and its future generations. Likewise, Cesar steered Ateneo de Manila’s financial revitalization.
He also served as president of the Ateneo Alumni Association from 1971 to 1975. He was named one of the Philippines’ Ten Outstanding Young Men (TOYM) in 1965. An astute businessman, Cesar led many companies, including Filsyn Corporation and Franmar Corporation.
