Appointment of Ms Eloisa D Balmoris as Vice President for Finance (Memo U2021-048)

Upon the recommendation of the Search Committee for Vice President for Finance and with the approval of the Ateneo de Manila Board of Trustees, I am pleased to announce the appointment of Ms Eloisa D Balmoris as Vice President for Finance for an initial 3-year term, from 1 June 2021 to 31 May 2024.

Ms Balmoris is a Certified Public Accountant with an experience that spans around 40 years in the world of corporate finance and accounting. A seasoned financial executive, she brings to the Ateneo her strong track record in the core finance functions of controllership, budgeting, and internal audit. Ms Balmoris was former Chief Audit Executive of ABS-CBN Corporation, 2018-2020. Prior to this, she served as Chief Financial Officer of Sky Cable Corporation, 1998-2018; and President/Managing Director of Pilipino Cable Corporation, 2009-2011. Ms Balmoris obtained her BS in Accounting from Far Eastern University (cum laude) in 1981.

On behalf of the Ateneo de Manila, I would like to thank Eloisa for her magnanimity in accepting this appointment and for her willingness to serve in our shared mission.

We also take this opportunity to express our gratitude to Mr Jose “Tito” F Santos for his Ignatian generosity and dedication in serving as Vice President for Finance and Treasurer for 11 years (2010-2021). Mr Santos spearheaded the digitization of several accounting processes such as the Electronic Purchase Requisition System and the CAO Payment System, and strengthened the University’s treasury management.

We express our deep appreciation for the work done by the Search Committee for Vice President for Finance, whose members are Ms Bernadine T Siy (Chair), Mr Rodolfo P Ang, Dr Evangeline P Bautista, Dr Jaime Jose G Nicdao, Mr Ignacio Carmelo O Sison, and Ms Betty Siy-Yap.  I was also a member of the Search Committee.
