Fr Emerito Salustiano R de la Rama SJ, 1961-2021 (Memo U2021-037)

With deep sadness, we inform the University community of the passing away of Fr Emerito Salustiano R de la Rama SJ, Headmaster of the Ateneo Grade School, early this morning, 24 March 2021.
 
Beloved of the young students of the Grade School and a constant and consoling presence at JesCom’s daily Keeping the Faith masses during this time of the pandemic, Fr Salty also served the Basic Education community as Chaplain prior to his appointment as Headmaster.
 
A true blue Atenean (GS 1975, HS 1980, AB IS 1985), Fr Salty entered the Society on 30 May 1987 after his service year as a Jesuit Volunteer. He was ordained a priest on 18 April 1998. Among his various mission assignments as a Jesuit, Fr Salty served the community of Ateneo de Iloilo–Santa Maria Catholic School the longest, first as its school chaplain in 2001–2005 and eventually as its president in 2009–2012.


