RE:

Appointment of Mr Rodolfo P Ang as Vice President for Administration and Information Systems

At its meeting on 19 November 2020, the Executive Committee of the Ateneo de Manila Board of Trustees approved the appointment of Mr Rodolfo “Rudy” P Ang as Vice President for Administration and Information Systems (VP-AIS) for a 3-year term from 1 January 2021 to 31 December 2023.

Having been with the Ateneo de Manila for more than 30 years as faculty member and leader, Rudy is no stranger to us. He has held various administrative positions as Dean of the Ateneo Graduate School of Business, 2014-2020; Dean of the John Gokongwei School of Management (JGSOM), 2003-2014; Chairman of the Marketing and Law Department, JGSOM, 2000-2004 and Chairman of the Management Department of the then School of Arts and Sciences, 1991-2000.

A seasoned administrator, Rudy brings to this office his talents for management, strategic thinking, and innovation as well as his rich professional experience in the private sector in the fields of business and entrepreneurship. Under his leadership, we are confident that the University’s administration and information systems will be further strengthened and improved.

In support of and in collaboration with the academic units, the VP-AIS shall assist the President in the day-to-day operations of the University. The key roles of the VP-AIS are to:

  1. Oversee the overall operational and strategic management of the physical plant and educational facilities in all university campuses;
  2. Integrate campus safety and management programs, including emergency planning and business continuity, environmental health and safety, and security;
  3. Oversee the deployment and management of the university’s information systems and technology resources so that they can more effectively contribute to the achievement of the University’s strategic goals and not just its operational needs

The following offices will report directly to the VP for Administration and Information Systems:

  • Central Facilities Management Office
  • Campus Safety and Mobility Office
  • Information Technology Resource Management Office
  • University Archives
  • Office of Food Safety and Quality Assurance

I would also like to thank the Search Committee for their dedication and thorough conduct of the search process. They are:

Dr Chito B Salazar
Dr Cenon R Alfonso
Fr Johnny C Go SJ
Dr Mari-Jo P Ruiz
Mr Rene Salvador R San Andres
Ms Genalyn S Sanvictores
Mr Lito Tayag

On behalf of the University, I thank Rudy for his magnanimity in accepting this new appointment and for his willingness and generosity to serve in our shared mission. We also take this occasion to thank Dr Ma Victoria T Cortez for leading the Office of the Vice President for Administration for the past year and a half. She will continue to serve as Vice President for Human Resources from 1 January 2021 until 31 May 2022.
