RE:
The Ateneo Professional Schools on the Incident at Areté 24 July 2022
The Professional Schools of Ateneo de Manila University likewise condemns, regardless of the underlying reason, the violence that occurred at Areté , Loyola Heights campus on Sunday, 24 July 2022. In a place where peace, harmony, and understanding reign amidst diversity, people lost their lives, were injured physically and psycho-emotionally. It left our community in a state of shock. Recovery is expected to be painfully gradual and arduous for many.
As we pray for each other, extend our sincerest condolences to the victims and their loved ones, we remember to support and assist each other in the spirit of Ignatian Cura Personalis and Magis.
We likewise gently urge the friends, colleagues, faculty and administrators of the APS to exercise extreme caution, and to respect the privacy and security needs of the victims, in issuing unauthorized disclosures and sharing of information during these critical times.
This unfortunate incident comes as a test of our solidarity as an Ignatian Community who finds God in all things – good and bad. The OVP-APS, ASMPH, ASOG and AGSB stand together with ALS to organize interventions that may assuage the impact of this experience.
May God keep us all safe.
