Rector of the Gesù (Memo U2223-004)

I would like to inform the University community that beginning June 2022, the title for the position of University Chaplain, currently held by Fr Norberto Ma “Kit” L Bautista SJ, will be transitioned to the Rector of the Gesù, as a result of a recent streamlining of functions in the position.  The Rector of the Gesù will focus on the administration of the Church of the Gesù, and will head the Gesù Liturgical Committee that handles the church’s schedules and activities.

In this connection, I am pleased to announce the following appointments as Rector of the Gesù:

Fr Kit will be Rector of the Gesù concurrent with his position as Director of the Office of University Development and Alumni Affairs (OUDAA). Likewise, Fr Pat will be Rector of the Gesù while continuing to serve as Chaplain of the Professional Schools.

The function of spiritual ministry to Central Administration Service Units (CASU) employees, a role previously assumed by the University Chaplain, will now be integrated under the Office for Mission and Identity (OMI) headed by its Director, Dr Miriam “Mhir” R delos Santos.

On behalf of the Ateneo de Manila, I thank Fr Kit for accepting this appointment as Rector of the Gesù and for his valuable service as University Chaplain since 2014. We are also grateful to Fr Pat for taking on this new responsibility and mission beginning 2023, and to Mhir for overseeing the spiritual ministry for CASU employees.
