The Ateneo Wild, launched in 2018, uses social media as a platform to share vital information on the importance of urban green spaces and urban biodiversity. Campus flora and fauna are featured daily on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, including identification up to species level when possible. Community members are also encouraged to share their campus wildlife sightings, allowing them to take part in citizen science by helping catalog the species found in the Loyola Heights campus. This is complemented by monthly guided nature walks to deepen appreciation for urban biodiversity and to increase the community’s contact with nature. The collected wildlife data is used to inform campus grounds management.
